Crossfit Onen

The brief

CrossFit Onen is a gym in Wadebridge, Cornwall.

Year one: the Post-Workout Pasty Club. Year two: Onen Strong Women Dept "Strength and Spice" a design to honour the female founders and members.

The thinking

Both briefs arrived with a clear idea and needed an illustrator who could find the image inside it.

Year one "Post-Workout Pasty Club" is rooted in Cornishness. We do love our pastys. The running brain on a skateboard earned its place by being slightly wrong in all the right ways. Retro badge format, checkerboard detail and the kind of graphic that looks like it belongs on a gym wall from 1987 but feels completely current.

Year two had a different brief and needed a different energy. "Strength and Spice" for the women's programme called for something with more personality and a bit of heat.

The outcome

Two pieces of work that feel like a proper apparel range rather than one-off commissions — both fitting into the larger story of a gym that feels like a family. One that will absolutely destroy your legs on a Tuesday morning, but still.
